EUCN European Union Studies Graduate Weekend School
Friday 18th - Sunday 20th April 2008
at Tatum Park, Horowhenua
The New Zealand European Union Centres Network (EUCN) is proud to host the second European Union Studies Graduate Weekend School for the graduate students studying EU Studies in New Zealand and the wider Pacific region.
The goals of the Graduate Weekend School are as follows:
- to expose areas of research interest in graduate studies of the EU in New Zealand and the region;
- to create an active and efficient network of research expertise at the graduate level; and,
- to set up a "region of knowledge" of EU Studies in the Pacific region.
Student Information
Who can attend?
Graduate students from around New Zealand who are studying a European Union relevant course or topic.
When:
Friday (evening) 18th - Sunday 20th April 2008
Where:
Tatum Park, Horowhenua
(1 hour north of Wellington)
Accommodation:
Accommodation will be in bunkrooms.
The Programme:
Will consist of workshops, presentations by students and some group team
building activities.
Students Presentations:
You will need to prepare a presentation on your work to present and discuss
during the weekend. This is usually an extension of your current research
work. There are several options you may choose from:
Poster: This is an A2 size poster displaying your research
topic or a topic of your choice.
Film or Media: A short interactive media production of
5-10min related to your research topic.
(You will need to be prepared to discuss and answer questions regarding
your poster, film or other media presentation for approximately 10mins.)
Research Topic Presentation: This is for students who are
in the relatively early stages of their projects to discuss their proposed
topic or work to date. (10mins with 5 mins of questions.)
Conference Paper: Students who are further along in their
research will make formal presentations of about 15 minutes. There is the
option for these papers to be refereed.
Get away from the everyday stresses of your studies and come to beautiful Horowhenua to:
- Hear presentations by other students
- Practice presenting
- Gain valuable, constructive feedback from others in the field
- Attend workshops on research and study tools, publishing and presenting, and other academic skills
- Network with other students and leading academics

Applications close Thursday 20th March.
There is a registration fee of $25 for students, however this covers all your accommodation and food and will help to support transport as well.
