Youth in the World - Call for Proposals: Cooperation with countries other than the neighbouring countries of the European Union

A call for proposals in the area of youth was published recently and industrialised countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea and the United States of America are eligible partners. However  note that if projects involve industrialised countries, the EC grant cannot cover costs incurred by partners or participants from those countries.)    

Application deadline is 17 May 2010.

ANU Centre for European Studies Visiting Fellowships May 2010 – April 2011

The ANU Centre for European Studies is pleased to announce a Call for Applications under this year’s Visiting Fellowship program. The Program is part of the Centre’s mission to promote research, education and dialogue between Europe and Australia, and is specifically aimed at supporting and hosting local and international scholars wishing to undertake research at the Australian National University.

Each year the ANU Centre for European Studies and the Research School of Humanities announce broad research themes. Applications from scholars interested in these themes from any discipline are encouraged, although other proposals will also be considered. The broad theme for 2010 is ‘Europe and the Law’, within which the following projects are being developed:

European Commission Research Survey

The European Commission has launched a study to improve knowledge of mobility patterns and career paths of researchers. A consortium led by IDEA Consult is carrying out a 18-month study which began in December 2008 and is known as the MORE (MObility of Researchers in Europe) study.

The aim of the survey is to build indicators on the mobility of researchers and to analyse the factors that inhibit or support their international mobility focusing on the following groups:

Researchers are invited to fill-in a web-based questionnaire at http://checkmarket.be/internationalmobility. All completed surveys shall remain strictly private and confidential and shall only be used for the purposes of this study. The questionnaire remains open until 15th February.

 

European Union - New Zealand Trade Conference: Creating opportunities in markets

Hon Tim Groser, Minister of Trade, will open proceedings. Mr Mauro Petriccione, Director, Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission will discuss the impact and learnings European FTA negotiations have provided to negotiators and European business. Crawford Falconer of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) will share what New Zealand has learnt from its FTA negotiations. 

You will also hear from Paul Ravlich, CEO of Siemens, Craig Richardson, MD of Jade Software and Ian Daniel, Director of NAVMAN. They will relate the journeys of their businesses and the strategies that have enabled them to develop a sustainable presence for long-term success in the European Union and New Zealand.

Your questions and views will be welcomed during a panel discussion focusing on practical and constructive strategies for future EU - NZ Trade.

As a joint initiative between the European Union Delegation to New Zealand, the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, the New Zealand Europe Business Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, this function presents a rare and valuable opportunity for policy makers and business people to come together in search of pragmatic and proactive steps towards a positive trade future.
